Everything new in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4

With over eight years and countless seasons under Fortnite’s belt, you’d think we’d seen it all. We’ve had crossovers with iconic music stars, scrappy video game legends, and appearances from supercharged comic heroes. The battle royale game has even been flipped entirely on its head.
New chapters drop into Fortnite’s island every few months, loaded with new content across its Battle Royale, Festival, and Lego modes. Following this summer’s shenanigans, which included a return to Springfield and an Addison Rae collab, we’re looking ahead to the next season. So here’s what we know about Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 – including its release date.
Everything in Fortnite C7S4
As revealed in the official trailer, Chapter 7 Season 4 is all about gaming. Think arcades, game cartridges, and dazzling neon. Oh, and Spyro. And Crash Bandicoot.
Everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog, Sonic, is one of the biggest influences of the season by far: You’ll find map changes that introduce blocky terrain, checkerboard loop de loops, and even zippy powerups. More Sprites will be dotted around to find, including an adorable Tails Sprite!
The trailer showcases even more iconic references, including Pac-Man Ghost landmarks, racing karts, Tetris blocks, and game cartridges that drop into the map. That’s not all, though, as an official post from Fortnite shared additional gaming legends to get excited about.
Mega Man will be available as a skin, but so will his weapon, as the season trailer shows Jonesy and the blue robot using the Mega Buster. This likely means it’ll be a brand new Mythic for the season due to the amount of damage it looks to do.
Here’s a list of every character we’ve spotted that has yet to appear in Fortnite:
- Crash Bandicoot
- Doctor Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog)
- Joker (Persona 5)
- Ghosts (Pac-Man)
- Mega Man
- Pac-Man
- Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Sora (Kingdom Hearts)
- Spyro
- Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Many of the skins showcased in the season art are already available in Fortnite from previous Item Shop rounds, hinting at their reappearance over the coming months. They are:
- Blanka (Street Fighter)
- Geralt (The Witcher 3)
- 2000s Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
- Master Chief (Halo)
- Peak Scout (Peak)
- Ryu (Street Fighter)
Of course, Epic will deliver their own slate of original skins in the latest battle pass offering, including the Bastian, Grace Crowne, Kittywins, Mali, and Phantom – all of which look to reference gaming in some way. The villainous Geno will also finally become a playable character, with a skin available to unlock in the pass.
The battle pass trailer also showcases a ‘Wrixel’ skin, which features a cuboid-shaped head and a wiry body. Another clip from Fortnite shows loads of different characters in this same style, with Epic confirming that the skin will have “over one million combinations.”
